From the Snow to the Sand

John and Kristen came for the weekend to take their little boys sledding. We went to Tahoe Meadows just right off Mt. Rose Highway. It’s a decent sledding hill. The kids sure had fun! This first picture is the only group shot I got, and it’s with my smudged iPhone. The others are all GoPro shots.

It was so nice out, that after sledding for a few hours, we decided to head down to the lake. So we stripped off our snow clothes and played the rest of the day at the beach!G0131459-2

We explored down to the south shore and ended up at Zephyr Cove. It was nice and empty, for a winter’s day. Haha. We’ve heard it can get pretty crazy there in the summer. G0111429-2

We ended the day back in Reno at our favorite Thai food restaurant, Bangkok Cuisine. Yum! IMG_1404

Leah’s Frozen Party

DSC_4194

Leah really wanted a Frozen party for her birthday this year. (Yes, my girls are obsessed with the movie Frozen, just like every other little girl in the country!) My friend, Stefanie Bellows, had just thrown her daughter, Ashby, a Frozen party, and she was so nice to let me borrow the decorations she had made! Everything was so cute, and Leah was just thrilled.

Ashby taught the girls how to make these cute little Frozen bracelets for craft time. DSC_4227

Well, I think we were successful in making Leah feel special, which is really what birthdays are all about!

Leah turns 7!

DSC_4086

This girl turned 7 today! James actually came down with a very bad case of croup that landed him and me in the urgent care clinic and then the ER at the hospital for most of the day, so she spent all afternoon after school at our neighbor’s house with Annie and Kate. But luckily James and I were able to come home tonight in time for a little family party. She opened her presents, her favorite one being an American Girl horse for her doll, Saige. DSC_4095

Then we had some cake. Dan saved the day by making and decorating this cake for her when he got home from work. I was so happy to see it when I got home from the hospital with James! DSC_4098

Valentine’s Day

DSC_4010

Valentine’s Day started with our traditional Valentine’s Treasure Hunt! The kids just love this and it was fun being in our new house with all new places to put clues and hide the treasure! Then we had our Valentine’s Day breakfast – monkey bread, scrambled eggs, sausage, strawberries, juice, and “pink milk.”

This year I felt like being an overachiever and so I made the girls some handmade Frozen valentines to take to their classes at school. Thanks to Pinterest, they turned out pretty cute!DSC_4023

And she is finally on the move! She drags herself around with an army crawl style, and she is loving her newfound freedom! Gotta keep a closer eye on her now. She sure is a curious one! DSC_4056
