6 Years Old!

     

Valentine’s Day

The best part about Valentine’s Day this year was that Dan had the day off, so he could just hang out with us all day and have fun!  It was great.  We started off the morning with a Valentine’s Day breakfast . . . . monkey bread, bacon, eggs, strawberries, and pink milk. 

Then our traditional Valentine’s Day scavenger hunt for the kids . . . . they seriously LOVE this!  This was their first clue: “Happy Valentine’s Day!  Let’s go look for things we LOVE!  James LOVES to eat this for breakfast.”  And so they go through the house looking for the next heart shaped clue until they find their Valentine’s treasure.

Which always includes Valentine’s balloons and a little gift and treats!

Then they had fun opening up a Valentine’s package from their cousins, Halle and Ryan.  Thanks, guys!!

Later that afternoon, Dan, James, and I headed over to the school for Annie’s class Valentine’s Day party.  I always love going into their classrooms and watching the kids interact.  It’s so fun.  And of course, Annie LOVED having us come!

And James loved all the treats and attention he was getting!

That night we had our babysitter, Jasmine, come over so we could go out for dinner.  We just went to BJ’s and then did a little shopping.  It was fun.  Then Dan gave me the best Valentine’s Day gift a girl entering her third trimester could ask for . . . . a housecleaner!  That is one of the many things I love about Dan . . . . he really is the best gift giver.  Love this guy!  Oh, and I did get him something too . . . . a shirt and sweater from Banana Republic.  Definitely not as thoughtful, and he has to return the shirt, but hey, I try:)

Sarah’s Birthday

Well, it’s that time of year again, when another birthday rolls around . . . . and this time it was the big 33 for me.  Yikes!  I know I’m still pretty young, but I feel like these birthdays are coming around faster and faster each year.  The celebration started last weekend, when we went out to dinner with 4 other couples from our ward: the Lees, Jenkins, Hellyars, and Simpsons.  We went to a little Italian place called Zozo’s that we had never been to before but thought it would be fun to check out. 

After dinner we came back to our place for cake and ice cream.  Kristen was so sweet to bring a Nothing Bundt Cake (my fav!) over for me!  Love these girls!  And then we ended the night with some hilarious games and some Jim Gaffigan clips that had us laughing our heads off . . . . what a fun night!!

My actual birthday was today.  A pretty average Monday with taking kids to school, getting James a haircut, having lunch at a friend’s house, and taking a nap while Leah was at kindergarten and James was napping.  When Dan got home from work the 5 of us went out to dinner at PF Chang’s.  Then we came back and I opened my presents, including the Breville Panini Press that I might have hinted to Dan about.  The kids made me some sweet cards, and all I wanted to do was cuddle with them on the couch before they had to go to bed.  Love these sweet cuddly kiddos of mine!  I feel like the luckiest mom in the world to have these guys.

We got the kids to bed, and then it was cuddle time with my hubby . . . . while watching the Bachelor!  haha!  He is good to me . . . . especially on my birthday:)

Northstar Ski Weekend

 

We were so excited when Mike and Beth invited us to join them for a ski weekend up at Northstar!  They had rented a condo right there in the village, and it was so awesome just being a few feet away from the slopes.  It’s just such a fun atmosphere up there.  Beth and I would make them lunch and meet them at this fire pit just right at the bottom of the ski hill and right by our condo.  It was awesome.  They skied Friday and Saturday, and the girls were diehards.  They did so great.  It was really only Leah’s 2nd time skiing, but she picked it up really fast and was keeping up with all the other kids just fine.  Dan said by the middle of the first day, she was just zooming down the hill.

     

Beth and I (both pregnant) had fun lounging in the condo, taking the little boys on walks around the village, playing at the cute toy store they have up there, and just chatting the day away. 

At night after the skiers were all cleaned up, we’d head out to dinner in the village.  The first night we went to the Japanese restaurant and the 2nd night we went to an Italian place for pizza. 

We had planned on ice skating Saturday night, but Dan suddenly came down with a fever, so instead of staying another night, we packed up and drove home.  Luckily we live less than an hour away, so it wasn’t that big of a deal, but the girls were definitely bummed about not being able to ice skate.  Next year, girls.  Thanks Mike and Beth for an awesome weekend!!  We had so much fun!
