Happy Father’s Day, Dan!

Annie’s Last Day of School!

School’s out for the summer!  That’s exciting stuff:)  Although, Annie was a little sad about it.  She said she doesn’t want to leave 1st grade.  She’s going to miss her friends and her teacher, Ms. Forman.  I asked Annie what she loved most about 1st grade and she said, “Reading and doing art projects.”

Well, there’s no better way to start off summer vacation than with a trip to Yogurt Beach!  We met up with some friends there after school, and I think everyone else had the same idea, because that place was packed!  It was fun though.  All the kids so excited to be out of school.  Then we spent the rest of the day swimming at our friend’s neighborhood pool.  Then home for pizza and a babysitter so Dan and I could finally go see Hunger Games!  What a great day.  Bring on SUMMER!!!

Field Day

James and I dropped off Leah at preschool for the morning, and then headed back to Annie’s school to watch their first annual field day!  She was so excited to see us.  Here she is with Naomi and Kiah, two of her best little friends from her class.

James had fun, but really he just kept wanting to go play on the huge playground.

Officially a Runner:)

Well, I think I can officially call myself a runner now!  I ran in my first race today . . . . just a 10K, but hey!  That’s big for me!  It was fun to train for this race with these 2 ladies, and then run it together!  The race was down in Gardnerville, NV beginning and ending in Lampe Park.  It was really low key, but pretty fun!  I had a great experience for my first race.  It was a nice 58 degrees out, conditions were perfect, my new running clothes served me well, I ate and drank just the right amount before the race, I had lots of energy, and I even ran to music for the first time in my life!  hahaha . . . . That right there shows you how serious of a runner I am:)

Adrienne was the one that got me into running in the first place.  We had lived here for just a short time when she asked me if I wanted to be her running buddy.  Sure, I said.  I’ve never really ran before, but I needed to lose the last few baby pounds from James, I needed to do some kind of exercise, and hey, let’s face it, I could use a good friend in my new hometown.  So we’ve been running 2 or 3 miles pretty consistently for the last year and a half, and just recently started to up our mileage and train for this 10K.  Thanks, Adrienne, for all the motivation and encouragement!

For me, a big part of this race was just setting a goal for myself and then working towards and accomplishing that goal.  It’s such a great feeling to see all your hard work pay off and do something you never thought you would do.  Like I said before, it’s just a 10K, but I had never ran that far before in my life . . . . and it just goes to show, with a little effort (or a lot), we CAN push ourselves and do hard things.  And that’s the part I love.

Annie the Crocodile

Annie goes to a dance class at her school every Wednesday afternoon, and last night and tonight were the big shows!  Last year they performed Alice in Wonderland, and it was adorable.  So we were excited for this year’s show . . . . Peter Pan!  Annie was a crocodile, and for how ugly those green unitards were, I have to say, Annie made a pretty cute crocodile! 

Mrs. Panelli and Ms. Forman (two 1st grade teachers at Annie’s school) teach the dance classes and put on the show.  They do such a great job.  Mrs. Panelli (left picture) is Annie’s dance teacher, and Ms. Forman (right picture) is Annie’s school teacher!  We love both of them:)

Their dance was pretty cute . . . . they started off pretty slow and serious, “Never smile at a crocodile . . . .” and then all of a sudden the song switched, and they rocked it out to Crocodile Rock.  Everyone afterwards said the crocs stole the show!
