Just like last year, we met up with the Lee’s at 6 a.m., made a quick donut stop, and headed on over to Rancho San Rafael Park to watch the Great Reno Balloon Race! Still not really sure why they call it a “race.” The balloons just go up and then seem to land where ever the wind blows them. It’s pretty fun to watch though and the kids just love it! We went on Friday this time instead of Saturday and it was significantly less crowded. Definitely the better day to go. And Dan had the day off, so that was nice. He didn’t have to rush off to work like he did last year. Annie did have school, but we got her there in time:)

Rock Park
A cool little park right along the Truckee River that we checked out after school yesterday. The kids had fun playing on the playground and walking along the rocks in the river.
And just check out that big toothless grin! She lost her tooth this weekend while my family was here. I was talking to my mom, using my hands to explain something, and Annie came up right beside me. I totally smacked her right in the mouth! The tooth was already pretty loose, but for sure my hand hitting it did it in. I think she looks so much older now with her tooth gone.

Labor Day Weekend
We had the best Labor Day Weekend! Jeff and Katherine and kids came up Friday evening and then the rest of my family met us at Tahoe on Saturday (we were just missing the BYU crew!) There is nothing our kids love more than being with their cousins. And that makes me really happy:)
We put the 3 little boys in the boat thinking they would like it . . . . well, James hated it. And then the 3 girls somehow just appeared behind their brothers, as if they knew we were going to take a picture or something:)
Mmmmm . . . . Nothing Bundt Cake also makes me really happy.
On Sunday, we did NOT make the big buffet breakfast we were planning on making after remembering it was Fast Sunday, but we DID make really good crockpot chicken tacos for dinner, Steph and Kath worked on Annie and Leah’s dresses for Ashley’s wedding, and we introduced my family to Cornhole, Kid History and Telephone Charades (funniest words: Steve Erwin, the crocodile hunter and Billy Hill and the Hillbillies).
Then on Monday we hit up the “Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off,” aka The Rib Fest!! The kids were all so excited to ride some very overly priced carnival rides. Good thing Grandpa loves to spoil the kids!
Poor girl . . . . she was so happy getting on this ride.
It was a pretty hot day . . . . just squeezed lemonade sounded so good!
In line at Bone Daddy’s trying to figure out what to order. They won 1st place last year, so we thought we’d try their ribs first.
We found a cool spot in the shade and dug in!
Then we got another round of ribs at Back Forty . . . . and it’s a good thing, because they ended up being this year’s winner!
They were definitely good ribs. Even the babies were chowing down!
I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend the weekend! Thanks for coming to visit you guys!!
