The Whiteheads left our house early Saturday morning, and we headed out too . . . . to spend a day at Folsom Lake with my family! John and Kristen live in Folsom, and it’s the perfect middle point for us and those coming up from Saratoga. It was just an easy 2 hour drive for us and we had such a great day. We have to do this more often! John brought his grill so we could have a BBQ on the beach, and we just played til the sun went down! Then drove back home that night. So fun.

A Visit from the Whiteheads
About a month ago, I received an email from Heather Whitehead saying they were coming to Tahoe and wondered if they could stay with us. Yes! Of course! The Whiteheads were our friends in Ohio. Rick was doing his Ophthalmology residency while we were there, and now they live in Spokane, Washington. Our kids had school during the day, and Dan had work, so they just went and played at Tahoe everyday on their own, but it was so fun spending the evenings with them. We taught them Dominion, played outside in the warm weather, and got all caught up on each other’s lives. It was so fun! Come again soon, Whiteheads!

First Day of School
Can’t believe today is the first day of school!! It’s always such an exciting day and these two are ready!
Annie is in 4th grade this year and Leah is in 2nd. Can’t believe how old they are getting!
Most of my family left our house Saturday night or Sunday after church. But my mom, dad, and Michael stayed until Monday afternoon. My mom wanted to come with us and see the girls’ school and wish them a happy first day, so we were so happy to have her come along!
We visited their classrooms and met their teachers. Leah has Mrs. Johnson this year for 2nd grade.
And Annie has Mrs. Lorenzetti! We’re looking forward to having a great school year!

Cole Family Reno/Tahoe Trip
We were so excited to host my whole family at our house for our Cole family summer trip this year. This was us at Costco on Tuesday stocking up before everyone arrived.
Everyone got here Wednesday evening, just in time for a family dinner at P.F. Chang’s.
After dinner we went back home to celebrate Ryan’s birthday! He turned 4 on Wednesday. So fun to all be together to celebrate! We got a big chocolate cake from Costco and opened presents.
We wanted to get in some good lake days, so Thursday morning we headed to Sand Harbor for the day. We just love taking people to our favorite spot on the lake!
So fun to all be together! Just missing Spencer (who couldn’t miss dental school).
Friday morning 7 of us crazies planned to bike the Rim/Flume Trail. From left to right: Dan, John, Brigham, Steph, me, Michael, and Jeff.
Here we go! The ride was pretty challenging for me being a beginner mountain biker, but I just walked my bike on the hard parts. I took a pretty good tumble on the Rim Trail, but luckily only came away with some scrapes and bruises. Overall, it was so fun, and I love pushing myself to do hard things. Most of all, it was just fun doing it with my family! We had a great time.
Gorgeous views of the lake from the Flume Trail!
Friday night was so fun!! We had our first Cole Family Lip Sync Battle . . . . hilarious.
My mom and the kids surprised us by going out of the room for a little while then returned decked out in new 49er jerseys and “cheerleader” outfits my mom bought them. The girls performed a cheer, and the boys ran a little football play. It was so cute. The kids loved their outfits and performing for the adults.
Saturday we headed back to Sand Harbor for another fun filled lake day!
Friday afternoon (after our bike ride) we headed up to Scheel’s to purchase this awesome raft! We were sitting on the beach on Thursday talking about how we needed some sort of big water toy to play on. So we went and bought this thing, and it was a total hit!
Michael doing his best “space cat” jump. The inside joke of this trip. I can’t even remember how it started.
Jumping into the cold lake! And John trying out his “space cat” pose.
Somehow it always turns into a brawl. Haha . . . “King of the raft!”
What the . . . Is Michael biting??
So funny. And then once we were all in the water, we decided to try to get an underwater sister picture. Haha. This was our best one.
I love this last picture. The 6 of us chilling on the raft. Love these siblings of mine. It was a great few days!
