Well, it’s New Year’s Eve, and we are the stragglers in Vancouver. Mike flew home to Phoenix, Scott and Elisha are driving home to Utah, Brian is taking Chris and Amy to the airport to fly home, and David is at work. So, it left us and Mary to figure out what to do on our last day here, and New Year’s Eve! We decided to go wander around one of our favorite places in Vancouver . . . . Granville Island. We checked out some fun shops, including this cool broom store.
And of course we have to wander around the amazing toy store there, which is really lots of little toy boutiques in one huge building . . . . so cool. We love this place!
Then we walked over to the Granville Island Public Market (my favorite place on Granville Island) to grab some lunch. We bought crepes and a blueberry muffin for James, and found the best spot to eat – right in the corner where we had an awesome view of the harbor and the city. So fun!
Then outside to chase the birds and check out the views!
That night we had a little party with David, Mary, and Brian to ring in 2013!! Earlier that day, Annie had asked me, “What do we do for New Year’s Eve?” “We just have a little party and stay up til midnight,” I said. “A party, like with music and dancing and a piñata?” she asked. “Ummm, we probably won’t do a piñata . . . . but I’m sure we can turn on music and have a little dance party.” Well, it was like 11 pm, the kids were still up, and we were kind of getting tired lounging on the couch, when Annie asked, “So, when is the party going to start?” Everyone kind of laughed and said, “Well, this is the party . . . .” She did not like that answer. “But weren’t we going to have music and dance and stuff?” Ok, yeah, let’s do that . . . . so we turned on the music and everyone started dancing. And you know what? It did make the party more fun! We broke out some yummy snacks and sparkling cider and turned the TV on just in time to watch the ball drop in New York. It was a great night. And then we all said good night because we had to catch a flight out of Seattle the next day. It was such a great Christmas vacation to Canada . . . . nice and relaxing, which is exactly what this prego mama needed. And great quality time with Dan’s family . . . . always fun:)
